Statement on the Midnight Bay Qualifying

Statement on the Midnight Bay Qualifying

After tedious review of the track and the facts surrounding the early start, we have determined there was no cheating or interference from the Savage Speeders. We ask our fans to remain respectful of the process. We, as a committee, have agonized over the ins and outs of each qualifier and each race to see if there was any issues.

To see if Speedy had a significant advantage, we compared the racer’s times coming out of the gate with Clementin’s times, who did see a clean start. If Speedy went out the gate unfairly quickly, you should see Speedy going faster than Clementin in the first seconds.

But Speedy was on pace with Clementin through the first turn and straightaway. The gap only developed until the middle of Turn 2, and that was because Clementin bumped the curb in a way Speedy did not.

We respect our fans and the race dynamics and understand that some of your are angry, but the truth of the matter is that the facts are that there was no interference between racers and the race happened as normal, just as it had in the beginning of the season where multiple marbles launched for qualifiers. There was also another previous early jump at the Short Circuit that did not draw as much attention as this one did. We are consistent with our ruling here.

We all care about the integrity of the races and to not accidentally bias one team over the other. That is why we only interfere when there is an obvious track malfunction or similar error.

Thank you,

The JMRC Is Growing!

The JMRC Is Growing!

If you weren’t aware, a group of community members helps Jelle makes all his videos and interact with the community. The Jelle’s Marble Runs Committee (JMRC) is working hard to make Marbula One happen and grow the channel more into 2020. To keep the momentum going, we’ve added two new members to the team. I’d like to introduce our newest members Alayjo (/u/alayjo) and Tom (/u/jmr_throwaway)!

Alayjo is known in our community for great social media skills. He got interested in the Marble League during the middle of the 2019 competition, and soon after took initiative to try and immerse the community through social media and artwork with his brother, creating amazing montages along the way (especially for their Mellow Yellow Twitter account). He’s continuing with that stride and is working to keep the community hyped and engaged all the way to the 2020 Marble League and beyond!

Tom is a stat guy and did a lot of seriously impressive analysis on not only the marbles’ performances but also on how our channel performs. He was hooked onto the Marble League after the 2019 qualifiers and started collecting data to understand why some marbles seem faster and fitter than others. He’s helping with Marble League planning to make ML2020 the most exciting Marble League yet.

We worked together with them for the last few weeks and are more than happy to welcome them to this group now! They have proven to be of great help for us and we believe that with their unique skills they will be a great addition to this committee.

If you have any questions for the new members, you can reply to them in this thread. And all of us will keep you updated in the next months, heading into Marbula One and ML2020.

Sincerely, Mellacus
